Scale Indicator IntegrationFrom the 1280 Enterprise touchscreen to the 480 Legend on a thirty-year-old truck scale, Rice Lake indicators stream a well-documented continuous output — the RLWS stream format. CloudAgg reads that stream over serial or TCP/IP and runs your whole scale house from the cloud: ticketing, pricing, inventory, dispatch, and an unattended kiosk. Your indicator stays exactly where it is.
Rice Lake's continuous output — the RLWS stream, also seen as the Rice Lake/Condec format — is a standard selectable stream on the current line. The 480 Legend can even emit Toledo-8142- and Cardinal-738-style strings if that's how your site is wired.
RLWS / Condec continuousThe 1280, 880, and 680/682 Synergy have Ethernet TCP/IP built in, so CloudAgg connects straight over the network. The 920i, 720i, and 480 stream over their RS-232 ports — direct to the site relay, or through a small device server onto the network.
Native TCP/IP on 1280 · 880 · 680/682IQ plus 355, 590-DC, and 710 units — and the discontinued 820i — still run hundreds of scale houses. They stream continuous over RS-232; a ~$100 serial-to-Ethernet server puts them on the network without touching the certification.

Serial-only indicator or no option card? A serial-to-Ethernet device server such as the Moxa NPort 5110/5150 (typically around $100) puts the RS-232 stream on your network — no changes to the indicator, no recertification of the scale. Details on the integrations overview.

No. The 480's two RS-232 ports stream continuous out of the box — CloudAgg reads that over a direct serial connection or through a serial-to-Ethernet device server. The option card is one path, not a requirement.
The standard Rice Lake continuous stream (RLWS format — sometimes labeled Condec). It's a menu selection on the port. Most indicators ship in demand-print mode, so our team flips the port to continuous with your scale tech on the onboarding call.
